EMPOWERING WOMEN

It’s no secret that women are the fastest growing segment of gun owners in America. Through my work with our local chapter of The Well Armed Woman (TWAW) that is obvious. The reasons are many, but the most important are that women are increasingly deciding to choose empowerment over fear. Whether it’s the fear of Criminal Domestic Violence, the single mother wanting to defend her loved ones, or perhaps the elderly widow who feels the need to be better prepared to defend herself. The reasons are many, and all totally justified. No matter who you are, your age, your family situation, you have the inalienable RIGHT to defend yourself and family.

This is not about politics, it’s about basic human rights and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Be assured, I am here to help you learn the skills to do so in a safe, reasonable and effective way.

Gray Lady Self Defense is here for YOU! You deserve Friendly, Professional, Knowledgeable Firearms Training for Women, by a Woman.

Kandy's Journey

In the beginning I had no idea what actual firearms training entailed, and no real understanding of how much training and practice was required to become even moderately proficient with a firearm. I was blessed to be introduced to the right teachers at the beginning of my journey. Though my husband had previous firearms experience and had sufficient knowledge to teach me, he knew he was not going to be able to teach me what I needed to know in a manner conducive to effective learning. Smart man! An experienced and wise firearms instructor understands that most people simply learn better from someone who is not their spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, sibling or parent. Throughout this journey I was very fortunate to receive excellent training and mentorship from my TWAW Chapter leaders and the extremely professional instructors at Shoot Logic, LLC.

I have since gone on to become a NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and NRA Certified Range Safety Officer. I am also now Chapter Co-Leader of our local TWAW Chapter along with my beloved TWAW Sisters.

I have taught many women who were scared away from firearms training due to very bad experiences with instructors who were unkind, know-it-alls, or were aggressive Drill Sergeant types. Some of those women’s first experience shooting as an adult or as a child was to be handed a firearm by someone who said ‘Here! Hold this gun, point it that way and press the trigger.’ I kid you not! Worse yet are the women who were taught how to hold the gun incorrectly and given virtually no safety instructions, so now they have to UNlearn the wrong way, while simultaneously learning the RIGHT way!

My teaching approach is to be your conduit to learning and empowerment. ‘I am not a teacher, but an awakener.’ [Robert Frost]. My goal #1 is to awaken the hidden warrior within you and be the ‘tour guide’ on your journey to becoming independent and confident in your ability to defend yourself and your loved ones.
